Intelligent Control of UPQC for Enhancing Power Quality in PV Integrated Smart Grids Using ANFIS Controller

Power quality issues has become significant tool in recent power distribution systems due to the occurrence of loads and devices, based on power electronics. To mitigate the effects of power quality disputes, Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) devices are crucial. In this instance, a photovoltaic (PV) integrated Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) for enlightening power quality in electrical power system and improves power factor on load side. UPQC is controlled by Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Interference System (ANFIS) controller. A High gain Quadratic Boost Converter (QBC) assimilates this research for stepping-up voltage from PV and enhance the act of powering the DC-link. The Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA)-Proportional Integral (PI) controller which enhances the performance of converter by optimally tuning the PI parameters. Thus power quality issues overcome by enhanced UPQC and results are analysed through MATLAB/Simulink. The proposed system achieves 95% efficiency with reduced Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 1.52% indicating improved power quality.
