Abstract :

This research presents the design, development, and implementation of an Arduino UNO based Earthquake Detection System (AUEDS), specifically engineered for early seismic detection and real time alerting. The objective of this study is to construct a low cost, deployable prototype capable of monitoring seismic activity by detecting ground accelerations and distinguishing earthquake tremors from environmental noise. The AUEDS integrates an MPU6050 accelerometer with an Arduino UNO microcontroller, leveraging real time processing to classify and respond to seismic signals. Testing indicates that the AUEDS reliably detects ground movements within a defined threshold, accurately generating alerts through a GSM module to notify relevant stakeholders. This study contributes a scalable and affordable solution for earthquake monitoring in vulnerable and resource constrained areas, underscoring the practicality of microcontroller based monitoring systems for disaster preparedness and mitigation.
