Abstract :
In today’s fast growing world, with a rapidly increasing population and diverse demands across various sectors, customers often face challenges when shopping in supermarkets. The time spent and difficulties encountered while waiting in long queues for billing can be frustrating. Moreover, customers may end up purchasing unnecessary items, adding to their expenses. To address these issues and create a modern, efficient, and user friendly shopping experience, this paper proposes a Smart Shopping Trolley with Automated Billing. The system is designed to enhance the shopping experience by minimizing common problems, such as long wait times at the checkout and difficulty in tracking the total cost of purchased items. The proposed system incorporates IoT components such as RFID tags, an RFID reader, an LCD display, and the Bolt ESP8266 module. As items are placed in the trolley, the RFID reader scans the RFID tags on each product, instantly displaying the item’s details and the running total on the LCD screen. Once shopping is completed, the final bill is automatically sent to the checkout counter, reducing the need for manual scanning and significantly decreasing waiting times.
